AMOAKO BOAFO

Amoako Boafo, born in 1984 in Accra, Ghana, redefines the portrayal of Black bodies in art, challenging global stereotypes. His finger-painted portraits are iconic, engaging viewers with direct, stern gazes. These striking works are recognized for their size and grandeur. Boafo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, receiving the Walter Koschatzky Art Prize in 2017. His art is widely collected by renowned institutions worldwide, including the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou, the Leopold Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
